Introduction

Glücksburg Castle (a.k.a. Glücksburg Palace or Schloss Glücksburg) is the ancestral home of of the Dukes of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, and has been used occasionally by the Danish Kings.

Nicknamed the Wasserschloss ('water castle') owing to its position in the middle of a lake, it is one of the most important Renaissance castles in northern Europe.

Opening Hours & Admission

The castle is open all year round, daily from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm (11:00 am to 4:00 pm from November to April).

Admission is 6 € for adults, 4.5 € for seniors (over 65), and 3 € for children aged 6 to 16 years old. It is free under 6 years old. An audioguide (in English, German or Danish) can be rented for 2 €.
