Introduction

Housed in the former Parisian palace of the French monarchy, the Louvre is France's largest and most famous museum, as well as the most visited art museum in the world. It contains more than 380,000 objects from prehistory to the 19th century, of wihch 35,000 are on display.

Opening Hours & Admission

The museum is open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm (until 9:45 pm on Wednesdays and Fridays) every day except on Tuesdays. It is closed on 1st January. Some rooms start closing from 5:30 pm (9:30 pm onWednesdays and Fridays).

Admission is 10 € for the permanent collection, and 11 € for the temporary exhibitions in the Napoleon Hall. A combined ticket costs 14 €. Admission is free for children under 18 years old, 18-25 years old residents of an EEA country (EU + Norway and Iceland), disabled visitors, teachers of art or art history, etc.
