This map is based on an article from The Economist. Corporal punishments has been outlawed in schools in all of Europe (including Russia), Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, as well as most of South America and East Asia (including China, Taiwan and Japan, but not South Korea). According to The Economist, "teachers in [U.S.] states with greater shares of evangelical protestants are more prone to paddling".

This map is based on the data from CDC for 2018. The reason why Nevada and Hawaii have much less divorces than marriages is that many people go to Las Vegas or Hawaii to get married, but later get divorced in their state of residence. That also explains why California has actually more divorces than marriages, as Californians account for a substantial number of Vegas weddings.
