I have compiled these regional averages for the Iron Age Gauls (from France):

Code:

The smallest sample size is for Gaulish_Northwest (just 3 samples from Manche).

By the way it is worth noting that Iberian Celts plot exactly in the same place as Southern Gauls:

Code:
Iberia_Celts(n=3),0.1244463,0.1442053,0.0624763,0.014858,0.0567287,-0.000279,-0.0025067,0.005615,0.027747,0.0364473,-0.0023273,0.01129,-0.0179883,-0.0119273,0.006741,0.001591,-0.006041,-0.0025337,-0.000838,-0.000042,0.0086097,0.003174,-0.0080113,-0.012652,-0.0043907

I added four Channel Islands Iron Age samples to my Gaulish_Northwest average:

Code:
Gaulish_Northwest(n=7),0.1359373,0.1370966,0.0609856,0.0459121,0.045327,0.0107969,0.0031894,0.0035601,0.0136447,0.0111424,0.0003481,0.0038109,-0.0160129,-0.0096926,0.019214,0.0056823,-0.0051781,0.0039817,0.001652,-0.0002681,0.0019609,0.0042396,-0.0037854,-0.0002064,-0.0010606

I didn't manage to open these docs, spite I downloaded the PDF system!!! Problem!

By the way it is worth noting that Iberian Celts plot exactly in the same place as Southern Gauls:

Code:
Iberia_Celts(n=3),0.1244463,0.1442053,0.0624763,0.014858,0.0567287,-0.000279,-0.0025067,0.005615,0.027747,0.0364473,-0.0023273,0.01129,-0.0179883,-0.0119273,0.006741,0.001591,-0.006041,-0.0025337,-0.000838,-0.000042,0.0086097,0.003174,-0.0080113,-0.012652,-0.0043907

This is not surprising, in my opinion. The Celts, including the Gauls, were the most geographically widespread population in the Iron Age, occupying areas of northern, central, and southern Europe. So it is obvious that there was a certain amount of genetic variability among the various Celtic groups. If we had analyses of individuals from the Golasecca culture, between Switzerland and northern Italy, who spoke the Lepontic language, they would probably plot close to the Southern Gauls and Iberian Celts.

In south, Gauls tribes were sharing territories with Aquitanian tribes in S-W and Ligurian ones in S-E. No suprise if by time they mated wth people of the other etnies. Even in West, I think they have had to share with pre-Celtic people of some sorts before IA when it seems more Celts plus some Alpine pre-Celtic people appeared in the far West (without cowboys!). It seems that spite missing a complete levelling for the most in South, the IA Celts worked for kind of a levelling in Gaul.

I made a silly mistake in labelling. It should be like this:

Gaulish_Western ------------> should be Gaulish_Eastern (these samples are from Grand Est)
Gaulish_West_Central ------> Gaulish_East_Central (samples from Bourgogne-Franche-Comte)

All of the other labels are correct.

Gradient set to 0.2

I can model myself as 100% as an Iron Age Gaul from Yonne in qpAdm. I've tried France Grand Est IA2 and it fails at a p value of ~0.01.
