Thank you for sharing. The Dai if I'm not mistaken, are an ethnic group found in southern China that are related to the Vietnamese. My knowledge of East Asian history is very limited but I think Chinese civilization started in between and the Yellow and Yangtze rivers. Southern China was more like the peoples from Vietnam in terms of culture. Chinese writers at the time called the people Yue. And would call them collectively the 100 Yue because of many tribes living there.

The Yue are the ancestors of most Southeast Asians from what I have read

Your assumption is correct.
I don't care for the ancient sample selection or DNAGenics is using all ancient samples in that calculation. I prefer doing ancient ancestry modeling with samples that come from the same time period. And that is what Illustrativedna.com does. Your results are divided by time periods like the Bronze Age, Iron Age, Migration Period, and Medieval:

I don't think it's boring.

Fair enough, and there are interesting quirks to everyone's results. I do try avoid calculators with CEU, though (75.2% CEU30 😑). However, this class may have interesting use in the increasingly mixed future.
