Here is my latest map based on data from the World Bank. The map shows the percentage of people aged 15+ who have an account with a bank or other financial institution that provides mobile money services. It doesn't necessarily mean that those people are using mobile banking or other mobile financial services, but that they could if they wanted to. In other words, the map tells us more about the technological advancement of banks in a specific country. I would have expected that in a developed country nowadays all banks had a mobile app, but apparently there are still banks that do not. I was especially surprised that American financial institutions lag behind when it comes to mobile banking. Over 5% of U.S. banks lack mobile capability. That's about the same percentage as in much poorer countries like Portugal, Croatia, Greece and Lithuania!
