There is a Hungarian family around the Apuseni Mountains, which has the y-haplogroup R1b-PF7563. This looks like a quite specific branch, that mostly concentrates in the Southern Balkans. I'd like to know more about what kind of group would this indicate.
The oldest relative with this surname (who was born in the first half of the 20th century) made a 23&me test, which came back as mostly Balkanic (77%, waiting for the update that splits Greek&Balkan into: Serb-Croation-Bosnian, Bulgarian-Romanian-Moldovan, Montenegrin-Kosovar-NorthernAlbanian, Albanian-Macedonian, and Greek). They also have the following country matches: Romania, Croatia (Dalmatia) and Greece, but no Genetic Groups other than "Transylvanian" (Apuseni Mountains, Someș River Valley, Dobruja and Prut River Basin, Eastern Carpathians and Upper Tisza River Basin, and Székely Land).
Using the Raw Data, Gedmatch gave Serb as closest match. Which could mean a Serb, but how these work, it can also be Hungarian+Greek or "Polish"+Greek (as they also have a GG called Lower Biebrza River Basin).
This family is known to mix with Romanians, which can make things more nuanced regarding the guess based on ethnic estimates.
