When I saw this, I thought it was a joke at first. How could this be possible in a democracy? But it's true, although with some caveat.

The U.S. Department of State is finalizing a plan to issue a limited‑run, commemorative U.S. passport design that includes President Donald Trump’s portrait, in honor of the country’s 250th‑anniversary celebrations this summer.

What the plan actually is:
  • The Trump‑themed design would be a special‑edition passport, not the standard one, and it will only be available for a limited number of applications (around 25,000 or so, according to reporting).
  • These passports are expected to feature Trump’s image and signature on the inside cover, along with artwork related to the Declaration of Independence, while keeping the same security features as regular U.S. passports.
However, regular U.S. passports will still be issued without Trump’s picture; applicants can choose the standard design if they prefer.
