RZ2124 bashkortostan
Hi,

I have previously received some help when I had researched to R-Z645 via Cladefinder. FTDNA recently gave me not just R-Z93, but R-Z2124. (This seems to be a haplogroup common in Russia (Bashkortostan and Karachai) and Poland.)

This was a little surprising as my paternal line is recorded to Sweden ~1700s.

On IllustrativeDNA I do have small Viking Age and Medieval Rus, Estonian, and Polish associations, as well as very small Turkic associations with the Nogai perhaps via a Mordvin immigrant to Sweden. These associations come and go, but I accept them as trace and legitimate.

There are quite a few unknowns in one half of the Swedish branch. And my Russian matches on GEDMatch span about every western ethnic group. Slightly relevant that I do not have any known Russian ancestry.

By DNAChron I can also see I have two mutations that are associated with R-Z2125 and R-YP1540 which is a Kyrgyzstan haplogroup, and a far subclade of R-Z2124/5. And a mutation for R-Z6405, which is also a subclade of R-Z2124/5.

Would you exclude any of the above theories? That the haplogroup is possibly Russian or Turkic origin? Sintasha in origin? Would you draw any other conclusions?

This may be the subclade I ever receive, since testing Big-Y is not necessarily on the list, so having the possibilities would be very beneficial.

Finally, on FTDNA I searched long my matches' relevant haplogroups. One match at R-Z93 is Egyptian/Saudi. And one match at R-Z94 is Swedish. There seems to be a Saudi subclade of R-Z2124 and so this may be a "false positive."

Thank you

Xiongnu-turk-scythian origin
That is awesome and very exciting to me to find. Before I landed on either clade of R-Z645, I hoped it was R-Z93. Thank you 🙏

Of course. R-Z645 > R-Z93 > R-Z94. Until yesterday Cladefinder and DNAChron would only suggest up to R-Z645, so I thought that was as far as I'd get. And would probably be R-Z283. But just with autosomal transfer FTDNA said R-Z2124. Still general but I'm happy enough.

Just wasn't exactly sure how far of a conclusion to make about its origins. I'm inclined to consider it "Russian" since many of the groups with this clade or Scythian genetic closeness are Russian: for example Bashkirs, Karachai, Mishar? And so seems an umbrella term for the Caucuses and Turkic? Without a subclade it seems too far to consider it Turkic (as compared to e.g. N, C, Q)

And some dubious but interesting (calculators can be found to say anything): Xichengyi BA Han and Xiongnu

Seems that Tatar immigration would have begun about two centuries before my tree trail disappears:

"Sweden has known Tatars since the 16th century, but Tatars immigrated from Finland and Estonia mainly in the second half of the 20th century."

These photos are my latest discoveries (also added above) and will probably be the conclusion. Lest I keep bumping my own thread.

From the autosomal there's likely nothing more to find.

However to explain, they exhibit a positive call for two subclades of R-Z2124, the more likely being R-BY123094. (The 'low' call was for YP1540). A consistent Turkic origin for all, however, very limited in scope. Is it still enough for a conclusion of likelihood?

Simply for convenience y full links are:

I'm specifically wondering if the likelihood of... If I purchased a y-111, R-BY123094 will be the answer, anyway?

It is significant that my ancestry is 90% British/Swedish, and the trace Turkic/Caucasian are likely from my Skåne paternal line. And so these mutations are hand-in-hand with the haplogroup.

So it seems possible this could be the answer. And would happy to try and extract a little more information with the file I have, if possible.
