I recommend sticking to the main tourist attractions and places. If you go off the beaten path hire a guide/driver. I recommend the same for France and Spain. Younger people speak English but older ones, ehhhh.I've been to a lot of places in the world,
But I think Italy is one of the best countries I have visited, and not just because I am Italian.
It is difficult to come up with a comparable destination, when Italy has so much history, and culture. Each part of it so unique, all worth seeing.
I have, actually just this past summer.Have you gone to Asia? I was planning to have my solo trip around Japan, Singapore and South Korea.
