Hello everyone i'm new, i did a 23andme test, i still didn't do the big Y from yseq or familytree, and i found out i have R-l2 Y Dna haplogroup.
Can someone explain from where it came from if i'm in central calabria in italy, and from which zone my paternal ancestors came from? Also because in the region where i live is most common E1b1b and J2. Thank you so much if someone can help me

R1b-L2 is an early branch of R1b-U152. Both of these most likely originated in Central Europe around 2500 bc, so this is a very old Early Bronze Age haplogroup.

It's common in Central Europe and parts of Western Europe, but especially around the Alps and Upper to Middle Danube regions, and also Italy, though it's found more in the North and Central.

Italic tribes carried it as they spread Southward, which may be the case with you, but there were also Celts, Ligurians, and later there were Goths, Lombards, Franks and Normans who may have carried it as well into different parts of Italy (though none of these were particularly numerous)

You can take a Big-Y700 test to get a more specific Sub-branch if you're interested.

Thank you so much! My city had some norman invasions, but before Romans there were the bruttians here, it can be the reason for my R-L2?

Considering they descended from the Lucani, who descended from the Samnites who were an Osco-Umbrian group, it's likely that they carried L2 (and other U152 branches) into your part of Italy, so yes it's a possibility for sure.

A Big-Y700 test would give you a better idea where it comes from in your case, or at least a stronger clue. L2 has multiple big sub-branches which have more recent branches. If you look at the country distribution or even ancient samples associated with later branches, you may be able to "guesstimate" where/when it came from/arrived or what groups it may have come from.

There should be more Bronze and Iron Age Italian samples lined up for being published, which I hope can happen this year.

Thank you so much! My paternal side came from a mountain zone, i don't know if bruttians lived near mountains, however thank you so much for help!

Generally speaking, during the Iron Age, most of the Osco-Umbrian tribes were mountain dwellers, while the Greek colonists settled the coastal plains.

Ohh, so it can be i have it also from Osco-Umbrian tribes, probably Bruttians, thank you so much! In fact i was struggling to try understand how can i have R-l2 because here in the city where i live mostly have J2 or e1b1b

It can be also a roman haplogroup? I don't know people of roman empire had also R-l2
