Most modern L618 xV13 is North African, mainly the Egyptian and Algerian clusters. There are a few Italian samples and a few other European samples. The Egyptian cluster is not linked to any ancient samples so far though the Varna sample is shown as ancestral to the Algerian cluster on FTDNA...

This is very unusual. How is it that L618 xV13 populations existed as late as 500 BC but have seemingly gone near extinct in the present? This isn't the only case of L618 xV13 ancient samples that existed past the first population explosion of E-V13 ~2000 BC.

The E-M35 project on FamilyTreeDNA shows 3 new samples that are positive for L618 and negative for it's only descendent CTS1975. They are from Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Iraq and I believe they are all due to family finder's new SNP testing. Their markers don't indicate any very recent clustering...

I suspect we might find some samples in Anatolia. I don't really have fancy maps or cultures or stuff since I don't know much about them. But I just think that if we didn't find stone age e-v13 in Europe then the next most likely place would be Asia Minor :)
